Where We Came from and Where We’re Going

The professionals and staff at Paytime Integrated Payroll Solutions are proud of our achievements, but realize we must not stand still. We continue to improve and add to our product and service offerings to provide the right business solutions.


The 1980s


Paytime is founded by a group of local accountants and service bureau specialists. Mary Ann Shamis and John Nasea are hired to run the start up, as well as sales and operations from an office in South Euclid, Ohio. Mary Ann Shamis is named president.


The first customer payroll is processed manually.


Paytime hires its first employee, purchases a mainframe computer, and acquires a small payroll company with 15 large clients.


Paytime moves to Beachwood, Ohio.


Hires Carol Heiss, who is our current tax manager.


Moves to current offices in Solon, Ohio, occupying 1250 sq. ft. with six employees.

The 1990s


Robert Gialamas joins Paytime to head our IT operations and oversee the conversion of our program and technology from mainframe to PCs.


Payroll services are expanded to handle 401(k), section 125 plans, and direct deposit.


Paytime begins to provide full tax service.


John Nasea is named president of Paytime as Mary Ann Shamis steps down to spend time with her young family.


Joetta Humphrey joins as office administrator and later becomes general manager/HR administrator.


Paytime partners with Mpay software and uses Millennium software.

The 2000s


Paytime adds remote entry by clients and tax impounding to its services.


To accomodate continued growth, Paytime expands to larger, 5,000 sq. ft. offices in Solon, Ohio.


Robert Gialamas becomes president of Paytime.


Conversion to M3 platform is implemented.


Paytime enters agreement to offer web-based payroll and timekeeping services – Payentry and Timeforce respectively. It expands to current 10,000 sq. ft. and 35 employees.


Began to offer HR services by partnering with HR Answerlink.


Partners with National Crime Search (NCS) to offer background check capabilities. Becomes a Weatherhead 100 winner as one of the fastest growing companies in Northeast Ohio. It introduces paperless payrolls to the Paytime services porfolio.


Winner for the second consecutive year of the Weatherhead 100.


Paytime celebrates its 25th birthday.



The foundation of Paytime’s payroll services is its payroll software, the most powerful and flexible Windows-based solution on the market. But software is only as good as the people who use it. Many of our professionals are FPC or CPP certified by the American Payroll Association. We were also named Weatherhead 100 award winners in 2009 and 2010.


Our relationships with clients are built on quality and integrity. Paytime is a member of the Independent Payroll Providers Association (IPPA), an organization that provides uniform rules and principles of professional conduct and ethics, including client service standards, confidentiality of customer information, and fiduciary responsibility.
